This morning I paid a visit to the Ibirapuera Parc in São Paulo, Brazil. When I was here last year, I was surprised at how easy it was to approach the Black Vultures here. Keeping this in mind, today I intended to make some portrait shots of the species as well. As you can see I came back with some okay shots – even though the light was pretty harsh. In all their ugliness I find it fascinating birds….

Vanochtend bracht ik een bezoekje aan het Ibirapuera Parc in São Paulo, Brazilië. Toen ik hier vorig jaar was, verbaasde het mij hoe goed de Zwarte Gieren te benaderen waren. Met dit in het achterhoofd, had ik vandaag het plan om ook wat portretten te maken. Zoals je kunt zien, kwam ik terug met een aantal geslaagde opnamen – ondanks het harde licht. In al hun lelijkheid vind ik het toch fascinerende vogels….
