Selfies zijn niet echt mijn ding. Meestal schrik ik me namelijk dood als ik het resultaat zie en je vraagt je toch altijd af “wie doe ik hier een plezier mee”? Daarnaast zijn mijn armen te kort voor een beetje een knappe selfie. Hoe doen die mensen dat toch? En zo’n stick? No way José! Een leuke ‘selfie’ als in ‘een leuke vogel die je zelf vindt’ is natuurlijk andere koek. Gisteren vond ik, toen ik een beetje rondbanjerde op het strand, pardoes een IJsduiker. Ik dacht eerst nog even ‘hey een Nijlgans’ (zie tweede foto 😉 ), maar het was toch echt een IJsduiker. Weliswaar niet in de categorie Roodkeelnachtegaal, maar toch een leuke soort. Het beest zat op een binnenmeertje, maar hield zich voornamelijk op aan de andere kant van waar ik was. Of gewoon in het midden, waarbij het lijkt alsof de andere oever altijd dichterbij de vogel is dan die waar jij op staat. In elk geval bleef ‘ie ver bij mij vandaan. Het leverde wat ‘vogel in het landschap’ plaatjes op. Ook leuk.

Selfies are not exactly my thing. Most of the times the result scares me to death, and one always wonders “who is waiting for this”? Besides, my arms seem too short for any descent selfies. How do people do that? And a stick? No way José! A ‘selfie’ as in ‘a nice bird that I found myself’ is, of course, a totally different thing. Yesterday, while roaming a bit around the beach, I stumbled upon a Common Loon. First I thought ‘hey, an Egyptian Goose’ (see second image 😉 ), but it really was a Common Loon. Okay, not in the category Siberian Rubythroat, but a nice find all the same. The diver was swimming in a small laguna, but stayed mainly on the other side of where I was. Or maybe just in the middle of the lagoon, where the other bank always seems closer than the one you’re standing on. Either way, I kept quite some distance. This rendered some ‘bird in its environment’ shots. Also nice.
