De eerste dagen van het jaar verliepen grijs en grauw. Ook de meeste vogels zijn in deze tijd van het jaar niet op hun kleurrijkst. Lekker dan! In het voorjaar vind ik het nog wel eens aardig om kleurrijke futen te fotograferen tegen een lichte achtergrond, zodat de kleuren van het scherm spatten  (zie de laatste foto). Maar wat te doen in de winter, wanneer de futen hun kleuren missen? Juist ja! Gewoon zoeken naar een plek waar de omgeving voor wat van die fijne kleuren zorgt. Simpel toch? Havens, bijvoorbeeld, die lenen zich daar prima voor. Door de reflectie van schepen op het water kun je daar bijna alle kleuren krijgen die je wil. Okay, fuutje moet nog wel even meewerken natuurlijk. En precies dát deed deze Roodhalsfuut gelukkig, hoewel slechts eventjes. Maar daarmee maakte hij mijn eerste fotosessie van 2022 toch maar mooi tot een bescheiden kleurenfeestje 🙂 !

The first days of the year passed mainly grey and gloomy. And most birds are not that colourful either, this time of year. There you go! In Spring I sometimes can appreciate colourful grebes against a clean and light background, as to make their colours come through your screen (see last image). But what can you do in winter, when the grebes lack most of their colours? Indeed! Simply go and search for a place where the surroundings make for some fine colours. Simple huh? Harbours, for example, are an excellent place for such images. With the ships casting reflections on the water, you can get almost any colour you want. Okay, of course our Grebe has to work along as well. Luckily this Red-necked Grebe decided to do just that, if only for a short while though. But by doing so, it made my first photo outing in 2022 a modest, but truly colourful experience 🙂 !
