Last sunday I went to the Botanical Gardens of Beijing to enjoy a day of birding. Or so I thought, since it appeared that thousands of Chinese had planned to enjoy a day in the park as well. Families, children, radios, people having fun.. Not the most ideal situation to look for birds 🙁 . I spent hours looking for the Chinese Nuthatch, but it kept quiet, probably wisely so… Upon leaving the park however I found a Grey-headed Woodpecker that was willing to pose for a while, saving more or less the day… I will have to go back some day, but then during a week day I guess…..
