Yesterday I visited a breeding area for Black Terns. In some obscure place in the middle of the country (Kockengen), there’s some reedlands where the Black Terns have their nesting sites – usually some small islands in the middle of the water. There’s several of these islands, the terns are standing on those and are screaming for food. However to my surprise they can fly away themselves – so I suspect them being at the age of “I feel independent, but still like being fed by Mommy”… The pictures speak for themselves. As you can see they eat fish as well as insects….
