For a while, a Black-throated Loon (Parelduiker) can be seen in a place called Stellendam, some 45 minutes drive from where I live. So when Remco said that he was going there today, I thought to give it a go as well. We had planned on arriving by sunrise, and quickly enough we found the Loon. The morning light provided nice and warm colors, and the bird even came pretty close. So, our mission was completed pretty quickly, especially since the Loon decided to spend the rest of the time further out in the harbor. So we went to see some more places, an for saw many different species, some of those you can see in this post. Remco, unfortunately, had to leave somewhat earlier, so I tried my luck on some other places – which didn’t add much however. When I finally started heading for home, I passed the Loon again and decided to give it another go. This proved a good choice, since I could improve even somewhat on my morning shots.. All in all a nice and sunny day 🙂

12 Jan 2014Hey Hans,
Rem
