Spring is in the air, meaning that the Bluethroats are coming to the Netherlands again. I love those colorful birds, and when singing they can be relatively well approached. The first ones I saw last week, but they were too far away for good shots (and there was water between me and them). Last monday I had some closer, but with some distracting backgrounds. Yesterday morning I decided to try my ‘lucky spot’ from last year again, so I left in the dark and after the fog cleared the sun came out. Still I had to wait a mere two hours before the Bluethroath positioned itself on a branch and started singing !
