The Tawny Owls (Bosuil) in the forest adjacent to our house have youngsters. Five in total. Not bad I’d say. They are hard to find though, in four search outings I found them only once (the 2nd time). They were sitting and sleeping, sometimes moving up and down the branches or swapping trees. They are already pretty good flyers,even if not completely ‘finished’.  When you see young owls, you know that the parenting owls must be near, however much more experienced in hiding from view. After a while I found the mother(?) as well, but high up in the canopy and hard to frame. But, as evidence shot, included in this blog….

De bosuilen in het bos vlakbij ons huis hebben jongen. Totaal vijf, geen gekke score zou ik zeggen. Ze zijn echter lastig te vinden. In de vier keer dat ik ben gaan zoeken, heb ik ze slechts éénmaal gevonden (tijdens de tweede keer). Ik trof ze voornamelijk duttend, maar ook af en toe wat in de boom klauterend, of soms zelfs boompje wisselend. Ze kunnen namelijk al best goed vliegen, ondanks dat ze nog niet helemaal ‘af’ zijn. Als je uilskuikens ziet, weet je dat de ouders niet ver weg kunnen zijn. Die zijn echter veel ervarener in het zich verstoppen. Na een tijdje zoeken vond ik toch nog de moeder(?), maar die zat erg hoog in de begroeiing, dus lastig te fotograferen. Toch maar een bewijsplaatje bijgevoegd…
