Last weekend we had a Tour Guide Meeting at Inezia Tours. Since the office is in the northeastern part of the Netherlands, this was an excellent opportunity to look for Montagu’s Harrier, one of the Harriers I didn’t have framed so far. This wonderful raptor is a seriously threatened breeding species for the Netherlands. Due to great conservation work, there is a relatively stable breeding population now in the uttermost northeastern corner of our country. After a great night and three hours of sleep, Menno and I got up early and after searching for a while found a nice male. We were able to make stationary as well as flight shots. As you can image I was more than happy with this first session 🙂

Afgelopen weekend hadden we de Gidsendag van Inezia Tours. Aangezien Inezia gevestigd is in het noordoosten van Nederland, was dit een uitgelezen kans om op zoek te gaan naar de Grauwe Kiekendief. Een Kiekdendief, die ik nog niet de op foto had. Deze prachtige rover is helaas ernstig bedreigd als broedvogel in Nederland. Door geweldig beschermingswerk is er nu echter een relatief stabiele broedvogelpopulatie in noordoost Groningen. Na een gezellige avond en drie uur slaap, stonden Menno en ik desalniettemin vroeg op. Na een tijdje zoeken vonden we een mooi mannetje, waarvan we zowel ‘zitfoto’s’ als vluchtfoto’s konden maken. Je zult begrijpen dat ik meer dan blij was met deze eerste fotosessie bij deze soort 🙂
