Earlier this week I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting an Eurasian Spoonbill (Lepelaar). During one of my walks I saw something big and white landing and after carefully getting a bit closer I noticed it was a juvenile Spoonbill. I approached the bird very slowly and was able to make many shots of this lovely bird. The longer I stayed, the more relaxed the bird got and in the end I could even walk around to get the best angles, while the bird kept on feeding – by the looks of it totally relaxed. And it saved me long stretches of crawling along the muddy banks ๐ . When after some 30 minutes I decided it was enough and was walking back to my car, it came flying by. Maybe it had eaten enough, maybe it just wanted to say ‘goodbye’ ๐ .

6 Sep 2013Hallo hans,
