An image can express more than a thousand words. In this case however I doubt if photos or film can show what I witnessed. The Murmuration of Starlings (Spreeuw) is a phenomena that is almost too much to handle. Around, or shortly after, sunset, from all directions smaller and bigger flocks of Starlings come together to regroup before occupying their roosting places. Numbers can easily get into the 30thousands… These enormous flocks mingle, mix, spread, twist and turn while making fantastic forms and patterns in the sky. It’s almost hypnotizing. Especially when you see such a thing for the first time. For this blog I have chosen some images that show at least part of what I experienced. But I guess it’s one of the things in life where a shot can only tell so much, but the experience will be with you forever……….

15 Mar 2014Hey Hans,
