Common Shelduck | Bergeend

Yesterday I found myself once more in the province of Zeeland. While last week the weather was hot and the light was harsh, this time it was quite the opposite. Clouded skies, and some rainfall and the temperatures considerably lower. On the upside: we could shoot for the whole morning. Most interesting was a family of Shelducks, that decided to come ashore for some preening and resting. The little ones every now and then took shelter from the rain below or behind their parents. When they had had enough of it, they started running back for the water. They were still wet anyway 😉 ….

Gisteren was ik wederom in Zeeland. Vorige week was het heet en hadden we door de zon (te) hard licht, nu was het zo ongeveer het omgekeerde. Bewolking met wat regen, en temperatuur was aanmerkelijk lager. Positief gezien: we konden wél mooi de hele ochtend fotograferen. Het leukste was een familie Bergeenden, die besloten had even aan land te komen om wat te poetsen en te rusten. De kleintjes versholen zich af en toe voor de wind er regen achter en onder de oudervogels. Toen ze er uiteindelijk genoeg van hadden, begonnen ze weer terug naar het water te rennen. Ze waren tenslotte toch nog nat 😉
