Rose-ringed Parakeet

photocrati galleryThese “green noise makers” -as my wife calls them- have been invading many parts of Europe over the last decade. In the Netherlands the population is developing very strong in the bigger cities (i.e. Amsterdam and The Hague), where they have no natural enemies. Flying around our house in flocks of over 50 at some nights they tend to dominate the area ;-). Yesterday we witnessed a feeding session in the tree behind our house. There was no light, so most shots are taken at ISO3200, with only 1/250 or 1/640 and all that hand held. Still a scene I would like to share, since you can tell the anticipation of food from the look in the chick’s eyes – or it must be my imagination…..
