Close to my home there’s a group of some 25 White Storks. They apparently have decided not to travel south in winter, but to hang around instead. So, when it snowed a while ago, I decided to check upon them to see if I could make some white-on-white images. Well, white? As you can tell from the shots, the Storks themselves are not as white as snow. We rarely have any snow to speak of overhere the last decades, so although the Storks are not the special thing around here, having them against a snowy background is. 

Dicht bij mijn huis woont een groep van circa 25 Ooievaars. Klaarblijkelijk hebben ze besloten niet naar het zuiden de trekken in de winter, maar blijven in plaats daarvan rondhangen. Dus, toen het een tijdje geleden had gesneeuwd, besloot ik maar eens een kijkje te nemen en te zien of ik wat ‘wit-tegen-wit’ opnames kon maken. Nou ja, wit? Zoals je op de foto’s kan zien, zijn de Ooievaars zelf niet zo wit als sneeuw. We hebben hier nauwelijks echte hoeveelheden sneeuw de laatste decennia, en hoewel de Ooievaars zelf niks bijzonders zijn, is kans om ze in de sneeuw te fotograferen toch wel bijzonder.
