‘Razor’ (In Your Honor) – Foo Fighters, 2005

Het nummer ‘Razor’ van de Foo Fighters is een beetje een voortkabbelend liedje. Niks mis mee, maar ook niet zo’n nummer dat je twintig keer achter elkaar draait. Althans, ik niet. Maar echt veel mis is er ook niet mee. Een beetje zoals de alken die ik regelmatig in de haven tegenkom. Leuk om even te zien, maar je blijft er ook niet lang bij stilstaan. Ook zij lijken namelijk een beetje voort te kabbelen, met af en toe een duik om wat te vissen. Misschien dat het er daarom nog nooit van was gekomen om er een blogje aan te wijden. Vorig jaar in Duitsland had ik er eentje keurig op ooghoogte, maar die deed niet veel bijzonders. Eerder deze week in haven trof ik een vogel die pal voor mijn neus een visje ving. Maar dat dan weer precies op een plek waar ik niet voor een lager standpunt kon gaan. Er is altijd wel iets. Maar goed, ik kreeg tenminste de kans die ‘razorbill’ eens goed te bekijken. Is ook wat waard, toch?

The song ‘Razor’ by the Foo Fighters is one of those songs that more or less murmur along. Nothing wrong with that, but therefore not one of those songs that I can play for twenty times at a stretch. That said, nothing’s really wrong with it either. A bit as the Razorbills that I encounter regularly at the harbour. Nice to see for a moment, but I usually move on pretty quickly. As also they seem to just ripple around a bit, with a dive for food every now and then as their sole action. Maybe that’s why, until now, they never featured in one of my blog posts. Last year, in Germany, I had one up close and at eye level, but alas – that one wasn’t very active. Earlier this week I had one that caught a small fish right in front me. But unfortunately at a spot where I couldn’t get a lower vantage point. Always something’s just not right. Ah well, at least I got a good look at that famous ‘razorbill’. Which is worth something, right?
