The Kestrels (Torenvalk) need to catch quite some food now. Their young are already hunting by themselves, but get extra supplies from the parents. In the photo-sequence you can see how the bird hovers in the air searching for prey. After some failed attempts it caught a mouse, but flew of to a different (and uglier) perch than I had anticipated on. So by the time I arrived the head was already torn of. As usual the intestines were eaten after that, and finally the lower part of the mouse disappeared in some big gulps 😉 . A misery moment for the mouse, but for the Kestrel and it’s photographer actually not too bad….
